Meet the Founder

Dr. Elizabeth Larson

As a professional educator, advocate, and lifelong believer in the power of curiosity, Dr. Larson founded Dr. Doodle’s Curiosity Works on a simple idea: every child deserves the opportunity to discover how capable, creative, and curious they can be. Central to her approach is a dedication to creative reuse, repurposing everyday materials to spark imagination and ingenuity, combined with a focus on design-based learning that empowers children to think like inventors and decision-makers. Dr. Larson holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Integrative STEM Education from Virginia Tech University.

With nearly two decades of experience in education, Dr. Larson has dedicated her career to helping children learn, grow, and recognize their own potential. She believes some of the most meaningful learning happens when children can explore, design, make a mess, ask questions, fail productively, and try again.

Her mission extends beyond creating fun educational experiences. Dr. Larson is committed to expanding access to high-quality STEM learning, particularly for children and families who may not otherwise have easy access to enrichment opportunities. By creating welcoming pathways into STEM at an early age, she hopes to help children develop confidence, curiosity, and the belief that these fields belong to them.

At its core, Dr. Doodle’s Curiosity Works is built on one guiding belief: When we give children the opportunity to design and create, we don’t just teach them STEM; we help them discover what they’re capable of becoming.
